Sodium chlorite is the sodium salt of chloric acid. It is prepared from sodium chlorate. Its main field of application is the production of chlorine dioxide (ClO2).

An in-situ disinfectant for potable water and swimming pool water produced with the aid of sodium chlorite and hydrochloric acid. Alternative to chlorine. In its application, it does not react with organic compounds in water and does not form organic compounds with different halogens. Ideal for removing biofilms. Only professional users are allowed to use it. To produce it, you must have a suitable machine to produce chlorine dioxide from sodium chlorite and hydrochloric acid. The dosage depends on the device used. Chlorine dioxide may be added at a maximum concentration of 0.4 mg / l. During the treatment of drinking water the quality of the treated water must comply with the requirements of Decree 201/2001. (X. 25.) Korm. Precursors are not subject to authorization, and both chemical standards listed on the precursor label are compliant.
